Being part of CE3C means being integrated into a stimulating, trans and multidisciplinary environment where everyone is valued and recognised.

The Centre has a series of initiatives, with different frequencies, that seek to ensure not only the sharing of internal knowledge but also the creation and strengthening of social ties, ensuring highly esteemed cohesion. We know that it is on this playful-pedagogical vision that the daily happiness, experience, productivity, commitment, and sense of fulfilment of each person and team are based.

Encontro(s) Scientia

Encontro(s) Scientia have a long-standing tradition in CE3C. Throughout the year, the various CE3C groups are invited to present speakers and themes, whether they are integrated researchers of the groups or PhD students. The weekly participatory meetings (every Thursday) are a vital opportunity for knowledge sharing among CE3C groups and engaging with our curious attendees. These meetings foster not only internal cohesion but also promote inter-group collaborations, enhancing our collective scientific endeavours.

Introducing E3 Talks, a unique and enriching seminar series hosted by CE3C, designed to inspire and connect the scientific community. E3 Talks invites esteemed external and international researchers to present their groundbreaking research to the local community and all who wish to attend.

The last Frontiers in E3

The 9th Frontiers in E3, cE3c's Annual Meeting!

In 2023, we proudly commemorated the 30th anniversary of our Herdade da Ribeira Abaixo as a unique scientific, educational, and advanced training facility and territory. As we reflected on the remarkable events that have occurred throughout these decades—what has transpired, what is currently unfolding, and our aspirations for the near future—it became clear why we have chosen the theme for this year's annual meeting. We must integrate the wisdom, lessons, and knowledge acquired from the past, allowing it to be a wellspring of inspiration for our actions and a source of innovation. In the words of Maya Angelou, "you can't really know where you're going until you know where you have been."

Themed gatherings

There are countless opportunities to socialise every year, but few compare with the themed events we promote at times like Halloween, Christmas, or our sunset that welcomes summer. These are unique moments of good humour, often featuring surprise activities that put everyone to the test!

What do our PhD students say?

I've just started my PhD, but having already been a student at the institution and CE3C, I already know the faces and corners of the house. For me it's a family atmosphere and a friendly environment. I always feel welcomed in those corridors.

Being a PhD student at CE3C means to have access to a wide range of scientific, human and training resources and, at the same time, an opportunity to interact with other groups and research areas through the Encontros Scientia. Through CE3C I was able to materialise my project with an excellent supervisor.
