In line with the widely welcomed policies, incentives and good practices for an active citizen involvement and consultation, CE3C develops a broad spectrum of activities characterized by different levels of fruition and (co-)creation, and target audiences.
Citizen science, for instance, has been a focus since its inception in the country and is present both as a research area and engagement strategy via numerous activities that take place every year, such as the BioBlitzes and the Annual Butterfly Census for biodiversity.
Further notable examples in the outreach field include the Biodiversity Stations Network, a pioneering nationwide project, endeavours in promoting agroecology – a collaborative effort spanning various fields, notably working closely with producers and value and distribution chains, and permaculture, anchored by the PermaLab infrastructure and complemented by various extension and replication initiatives. Additionally, initiatives such as the laboratories for inclusive citizenship and active stakeholder consultation in sustainable development scenarios.
The production of books, such as children's books or field guides, boardgames and other practical and educational resources is also a hallmark of the CE3C and its researchers. Their quality is often proven by the awarding of prizes that valorise them and push them even further.
