Summary:

This is the first study to identify the areas of highest sensitivity of seabirds to offshore wind farm expansion in Portugal. We will compile data of the distribution of all seabird species with regular occurrence in Portuguese mainland coast, and combine with information of the sensitivity of each species to the impacts of offshore windfarms (collision and displacement), alongside with the conservation status of each species. The results are a benchmark for future analysis and provide a valuable contribution to inform ongoing policy decision making.
