Currently, Ana is an Assistant Professor working at the Dep. Ecologia, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Madrid (Spain). Ana has a BSc in Biology (2003; Univ. Lisbon, Portugal), and a PhD in Ecology (2010; Imperial College London, U.K.). Her research career started as a research assistant at University of Azores (Portugal; 2003-2005). She then enrolled on her PhD (2006-2010), focused on the ecology and biogeography of island parasitoid fauna, and afterwards held several postdoctoral positions: i) Federal University of Goiás (Brazil; 2011-2012); ii) Centre for Environmental Biology, Univ. Lisbon (Portugal; 2012-2014); iii) Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (Madrid; 2014-2016); iv) Juan de la Cierva (Incorporación) Fellow at Univ. Alcalá (Madrid; 2016-2019); and v) Research Associate at CE3C- Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (Portugal; 2019).
She has broad research interests on community ecology, functional ecology and biogeography, focusing particularly in island systems and arthropod groups and taking a multi-scale approach. She is also interested in understanding the impacts of global change on biodiversity.
