Filipa Grilo completed her PhD at CE3C within the Doctoral Program in Biodiversity, Genetics, and Evolution (BIODIV) at the University of Lisbon in October 2024. Her thesis, titled "A Social-Ecological Perspective on Urban Biodiversity and Its Effects on Ecosystem Services," investigated the intricate relationships between the social-ecological dimensions of urban systems, biodiversity, and ecosystem services, with a particular emphasis on climate regulation.
She is currently an External Collaborator with the System Ecology Group at CE3C and a researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico. Her research focuses on working with the Cities for Climate Network to harness and enhance the potential of nature-based solutions for carbon dioxide removal in urban contexts.
