I received a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Bristol in 2010 and I am currently working in the Tropical and Mediterranean Biodiversity. I am a professor of Biology at the University of Lisbon. My research focuses on bat ecology, conservation, climate change and promotion of their ecosystem services. For many years I have been involved in bat research focusing on the promotion of their ecosystem services at farmlands while addressing the potential impacts of climate change. Under that scope, I have co-lead a COST Action involving 27 european coutries.
My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: to further understand the role of bats in the ecosystems, to evaluate the potential impact of climate change on natural populations and to foster knowledge transfer to stakeholders in order to speed the transition for a green economy and greater resilience to future changes.
