I received a Ph.D. in Biology from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), University of Lisbon, in 2022. I am currently working in the Environmental Stress & Functional Ecology (ESFE) group of CE3C. My research focuses on African flora, tropical agrobiodiversity, and food security. For many years, I have been involved in studies of species conservation and the sustainable use of plant resources in tropical regions, especially in the context of climate change. My current research is driven by three overarching objectives concerning African agrobiodiversity and genetic resources: i) Knowlage and conservation of Crop Wild Relatives (CRW); ii) Sustainable production in African agricultural ecosystems; iii) Management of major pests in essential crops in Guinea-Bissau.
