I received a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Lisbon in 1997 and was part of HuEl RG (CESAM_Lisboa until 2024). I was a professor of Forensic Biology/Molecular Biology at the University of Lisbon. Over the last five years, my research has focused on studying vector/pathogen associations with public health relevance using ticks and their microbiome as a model.
Currently, and seeking to provide faster, more robust and precise answers, we are investing in complete genomes analysis that constitutes the microbiomes of the tick species identified in mainland and island Portugal, covering: Metagenomics; Biostatistics and Risk Maps.
