Martim Afonso Geraldes is a grant research holder within the project OCELOT - One Health empiriCo-mEchanistic modeLing of antimicrObial resistance (2024, 2025), under the supervision of Mónica Vieria Cunha of CE3C. Martim Afonso Geraldes has a degree in Biology from the University of Lisbon (Faculty of Sciences) and a masters in Applied Microbiology at the University of Lisbon (Faculty of Sciences).
He currently works on the epidemiology of infectious diseases through computational approaches to prepare and mitigate human-associated epidemics. Mainly providing first-of-a-kind valuable insights for future arboviral and bacterial AMR surveillance under the One Health nexus. By exploring ecological backgrounds compatible with historical circulation and estimating ecological suitability across different areas. While also forecasting how climate trends will contribute to increased ecological suitability toward regions with higher human density.
