Ana Cristina Coelho
External CollaboratorI received a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Algarve in 2004, and I am currently an integrated member of CEOT - University of Algarve and an external collaborator in CoBiG2. I am a professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Algarve. My research focuses on Plant Sciences; Genetics; Forestry; Plant-pathogen interactions; Cork oak Decline; Phytophthora cinnamomi.
For many years, I have been involved in research related to cork oak decline on the interaction between Phytophthora cinnamomi and Quercus suber.
My current research is driven by three broad objectives: to identify the molecular mechanisms of interaction between the cork oak and the oomycete P. cinnamomi; biochemical characterization of cork oak populations to identify trees with resistance profiles to P. cinnamomi; genetic characterization of P. cinnamomi populations in Portugal.
