Ana Filipa Paulino
PhD StudentAna Filipa Paulino is a PhD student of the BEAG doctoral programme at the University of Lisbon, starting in 2020. Her research is focused in Molecular Markers. She is presently working with Portuguese cardoon populations.
The project intends to study the development of molecular markers to select the best cardoon genotypes for cynaropicrin production, leading to the basis of a future breeding program. With great biological activity, cynaropicrin can be valorized within different industries, being the pharmaceutical and biotechnological options the ones with greater added-value. Chemical Cynara carcunculus profile, genetic variability, transcriptomic studies, and identification of potential molecular markers associated to cynaropicrin traits, will be assessed.
