I received a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Lisbon/University of Aveiro in 2018 and I am currently working in the CoBiG² of CE3C. I am a professor of Bioinformatics/Evolutionary Biology at the University of Lisbon and at the Setúbal Politechnic Institute. My research focuses on Bioinformatics, Evolutionary Biology, Computational Biology and Phylogenetics.
For many years I have been involved in population genetics/genomics of wild species research using various organisms as model systems, software development for solving biological problems, and in data analysis pipelines development and implementation.
I am also a member of Biodata.pt.
My current research is driven by two overarching objectives: Natural Selection detection, and species response to environmental change.
