Joana Costa is a PhD student of the BEAG doctoral programme at the University of Lisbon, starting in 2023. Her research is focused in ecology and biology of Eucalyptus globulus, especially the processes leading to the naturalization of the species in Portugal.
She is also presently working with genomic selection in a Eucalyptus breeding program at RAIZ - Instituto de Investigação da Floresta e do Papel, aiming for improvement of forest trees for industrial plantations. The national eucaliptus forest is curretly under pressure, when climate change, economic valorization and forest productivity are closely linked to the present genetic diversity.
