I received a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Vienna in 2016, supervised by Prof. Joachim Hermisson. I am currently working in the Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics of CE3C with Prof. Vitor Sousa. Previously, I did a Postdoc in Evolutionary Dynamics with Prof. Claudia Bank (2016-2019) at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in Portugal. I also did a second Postdoc in the Genetics Department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with Prof. Bret Payseur (2019-2021). My research focuses on theoretical evolution, more precisely on speciation and hybridization. I also work on detecting genes responsible for genetic barriers between species.
My current research is driven by two overarching objectives:
- understanding the dynamic of speciation and the role of reproductive isolation;
- detecting genetic incompatibilities in genomes.
