I received a PhD in Population Genetics from the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris, France) in 2023 under the supervision of Pr Stefano Mona. I am currently working in the Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics Group of CE3C with Pr Vitor Sousa at the University of Lisbon. I am interested in processes driving the evolutionary history of species using population genomics, notably through the development of computational frameworks.
My research interests focus on (i) historical demography inference (notably using coalescence-based frameworks); (ii) the origin and maintenance of supergenes; and (iii) using multi-species population genetics datasets to uncover large scale biogeographic and ecological features. My model systems are cartilagenous and bony fishes. My current research project is theoretical and computational: I am studying how selection affects demographic parameters along chromosomes using coalescent theory, with the aim of developing statistical software and applying it to genomic data.
