PhD StudentJoana Marques is a PhD student in Veterinary Sciences doctoral program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University Lisbon, also integrating the Genomics and Evolutionary Ecology of Microorganisms group of CE3C, and the National Institute of Agrarian and Veterinary Research (INIAV), starting in 2023. She is conducting the project “Enterococci: AI-driven biosurveillance of sentinel proxies towards One Health”, under the supervision of Teresa Semedo Lemsaddek (FMV-UL), Teresa Nogueira (CE3C, INIAV) and Ernesto Jiménez-Ruiz (City, University of London). This PhD project is an integrative approach that aims characterise enterococci recovered from various origins, access the dissemination of pathogenicity determinants within and across One Health sectors, and build a predictive model to tackle antimicrobial resistance evolution.
