I graduated in Environmental Biology and received my master degree in Conservation Biology, both from the University of Lisbon. In 2017 I received a grant from FCT for the BIODIV (Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution) Doctoral Programme, where I used individual-based-models to study the evolutionary consequences of mate-choice copying in spatially structured populations. Mate-choice copying is a mechanism of non-independent mate-choice where individuals change their mate preference favouring similar mates to the ones they saw being chosen by conspecifics.
My PhD was tutored by Prof. Margarida Matos from CE3C and co-tutored by Dr. Susana A. M. Varela from CE3C and by Prof. Ingo Schlupp from the University of Oklahoma. In April 2023, I defended my thesis, approved with Distinction and Honors.
Currently I am in the process of finishing publishing one study from my thesis and I am in the process of looking for a Post-Doc.
My current research interests includes: Behavioural Ecology; Social Information; Cultural Evolution; Gene-Culture Evolution; Sexual Selection; Mate Choice; Habitat Choice; Animal Cognition; Mathematical Modelling and Statistical Modelling.
