Lounès Chikhi
External CollaboratorI received a Ph.D. in population genetics from the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, in Paris, even though I actually worked between Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and Montpellier and Sète, France in 1995 and I am currently developing research at the CE3C as a continuation of the work I am doing as Principal Investigator leading the Population and Conservation Genetics group at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência.
As a CNRS Senior researcher (Directeur de Recherche 1ère classe) I am now working at the CE3C within the collaborative International Research Project agreement between the CNRS and the CE3C. I am in the Wildlife Genetics RG of CE3C. My research focuses on the use of genetic and genomic data to address questionsrelated to conservation genetics and the recent evolutionary history of endangered species and of humans. For many years I have been involved in conservation research using vertebrates from South East Asia, Madagascar and Africa as model organisms.
