Daniel Alves is conducting a Ph.D. in hearing and acoustic communication in the Lusitanian Toadfish by the University of Lisbon starting in 2009 within the Freshwater and Invasion Biology Research Group. He is conducting the project Development of hearing and acoustic communication in complex environments in the Lusitanian Toadfish, under the supervision of Prof. Paulo Fonseca, FCUL and CE3C Ph.D.
The aims of the thesis are to understand how the Lusitanian fish communicates in the acoustically complex natural environment and to contribute to the understanding of the impact of boat noise in the hearing of this species.
