Pedro Afonso Peixe e Sousa is conducting a PhD in Biology/Ecology and Conservation Biology by the University of Lisbon starting in 2024 within the FIB. He is conducting the project Rewiring of freshwater food webs under warming climate under the supervision of Maria Filomena de Magalhães e Rui Rebelo.
Focusing in Mediterranean intermittent streams, this projects aims to i) build a highly resolved trophic network, with nodes and connections found in the model system, ii) quntify species sensitivity to warming integrating ecological and physiological traits, iii) analyse food web rewiring in mesocosm pool refuges, and iv) evaluate throphic network robustness to species loss and reconfiguration associated with warming.
