I received a Ph.D. in Ecology and Biosystematics from the University of Lisbon in 2003 and I am currently working in the ESFE (Environmental Stress & Functional Ecology) research group of CE3C. My research focuses on seed ecology and conservation. I was Seed Curator at Banco de Sementes A.L. Belo Correia, Jardim Botânico, MUHNAC and I coordinated the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership in Portugal for seven years. I lead the implementation of the ex situ conservation programme for Portuguese plant species protected under habitats Directive in order to meet the objectives of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, in collaboration with ICNF. I currently collaborate with European seed conservation institutes and networks.
