I received a Ph.D. in Biology, Plant Biotechnology from the University of Lisbon in 1996 and I am currently working in the PFE group of CE3C. I am a professor at the Plant Biology Department, teaching Cell Biology course at the University of Lisbon, and in the past also Plant Development and Microbiology courses. I am also part of the coordination of the master in Genetic and Molecular Biology (FCUL).
My research focuses on molecular biology and plant Biotechnology, mainly through the use of molecular markers to characterize plants as well as in the study of secondary (specialized) metabolism genes of aromatic plants. My research interests include also invasive species, namely acacias, and their association with microorganisms. I have been involved in scientific orientation of several master dissertations (10) and PhD thesis (3).
