I received a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Lisbon in 2004 and I am currently working in the Plant-Soil Ecology group of CE3C and in the R&D company Bioscale. My research focuses on the development of microbial solutions for a sustainable agriculture based on innovative technologies that use the symbiotic partnerships established between plants and rhizospheric microbiome members.
For many years I have been involved in microbial ecology and evolution with focus on cooperation and competition among bacteria, mutualisms between plants and soil microorganisms (e.g. mycorrhizas and plant growth promoting bacteria).
