I received a Ph.D. in Biology and Ecology of Global Change from the University of Lisbon/University of Aveiro, specialty in Ecology and Functional Biodiversity, in 2017. I am a Researcher at the Plant Biology Department of Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa, currently leading the Restoration Ecology research group (ECOR) of CE3C. My research is focused on using trait-based ecological indicators and ecosystem services to diagnose, monitor, adapt and restore ecosystems under global change (e.g. climate, land use), addressing local and global scales and transferring knowledge to decision makers and end-users. I´ve been working mostly in drylands, leading several research projects on land degradation monitoring and ecological restoration, including in agroforestry systems, dunes, quarries, burned areas and urban areas. I am currently Vice-Chair of the European chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER Europe), member of the Directive Board of the Portuguese Ecological Society (SPECO) and co-coordinator of the Portuguese Ecological Restoration Network.
