I received a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Lisbon in 2010 and I am currently leading the Urban Ecology. I am a researcher on urban ecology topics. My research focuses on I work on the effect of environmental changes on urban ecosystems functioning and provision of services, by measuring vegetation functional groups, remote sensing and ecological indicators.
My work aims at studying how human well being can be improved using nature-based solutions, by promoting its biodiversity and associated ecosystem services. This includes water and air quality and microclimate regulation, and its links with other cultural and support services. I'm PI in Portugal of biodiversa+ BiNatUr, I co-chair the Biodiversa+ Knowledge Hub on Nature based Solution for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation and I’m on the Directive Board of the International Association for Biomonitoring Environmental Pollution.
