I received a Ph.D. in Ecology and Biodiversity Protection from the Technical University in Zvolen (TUZVO), Slovakia in 2020. After that, I was a Post-doc Researcher at TUZVO (2021-2023) and currently I am a Junior Researcher at CE3C in the Green & blue infrastructure for urban sustainability research team, Urban Ecology group. My research focuses on aquatic insect and their determination, length-mass relationships, and biomass; plant litter decomposition by macroinvertebrate community and human impact on this process (plant invasion and eutrophication); and calculating macroinvertebrate indexes to evaluate the water quality.
Currently, I am collaborating on three projects – (1) “BiNatUr - Bringing nature back – biodiversity-friendly nature-based solutions in cities” at cE3c under the supervision of Dr. Pedro Pinho; (2) „Temperature and nutrient interactions in aquatic ectotherms: individuals, populations and communities at latitudinal edges” at cE3c under the supervision of Dr. Bruno M. Carriera; and (3) "Aliens among us: spatio-temporal dynamics of plant invasions and their adverse impact on ecosystems" at TUZVO under the supervision of Dr. Marek Svitok.
My current research is driven by three overarching objectives connected to the projects: (1) to evaluate how does macroinvertebrate biodiversity influence regulating ecosystem services provided by aquaNBS; (2) to estimate length-mass relationships of aquatic macroinvertebrates from Portugal and Sweden; and (3) to assess the impacts of invasive plant species on freshwater ecosystems.
