Summary:
Genopheno4Trait's global objective is to increase food safety and reduce food waste by reducing food contamination by Listeria monocytogenes, one of the most feared foodborne pathogens, being the main cause of death from ingestion of contaminated food in the EU. L. monocytogenes is still responsible for major product recalls, resulting in severe economic losses and food waste. Genopheno4Trait aims to increase knowledge about the physiological and genetic characteristics of the microorganism that allow its persistence in manufacturing environments, which will be integrated into the development of interventions aimed at eliminating persistent subtypes and successfully responding to the proposed objective - reducing food contamination by L. monocytogenes.
