I received a Ph.D. in Environmental and Evolutionary Ecology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK in 1998 and I am currently a member of “Behavioural Ecology and Conservation” CE3C Group . I am a professor of Ecology at the University of Lisbon. My research focuses on avian ecology, dietary and feeding ecology and spatial ecology and movement.
For many years I have been involved in ecology of marine and coastal birds in several different countries. My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: using birds as monitors of the environment, understanding how animals respond to changes in environment, and use the different types of movement of animals to understand the how they interact with the landscape
