I received a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2009 and I am currently leading the group Behavioural Ecology and Conservation. I am a Professor of Ecology at the University of Lisbon. My research focuses on the ecology of birds in contrasting ecological contexts, namely tropical/sub-tropical vs. temperate, and natural vs. man-made ecosystems. I am devoted to understanding the role of birds in ecological networks as well as their responses and resilience towards global impacts promoted by human activities. Main research areas include movement/spatial ecology (including migration behaviour and connectivity), trophic ecology, demographic ecology and conservation.
