ResearcherI received a Ph.D. in Molecular Biosciences from the New University of Lisbon in 2023 and I am currently working as a Research Technician at iXLab – Inovação para a Resiliência Biológica Nacional, a collaborative initiative led by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and the Portuguese Army. My research focuses on the prompt detection, identification and mitigation of potential biological hazards, along with the development and implementation of different molecular and genomic protocols.
In addition to my microbiological focus, I previously worked for four years at a molecular diagnostics company specializing in rare genetic diseases, where I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of Molecular Biology and Genomics to the field of Human Genetics. My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: (1) To improve molecular diagnostic techniques for the swift detection of emerging biological hazards; (2) To enhance genomic methods to strengthen biosecurity and outbreak management; (3) To investigate microbial communities in various environments to support public health strategies.
