Mafalda is an MSc student within the project Unravelling the first defects of LAMA2-congenital muscular dystrophy: muscle stem cells versus myofibers (2024, 2025), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sólveig Thorsteinsdóttir and Prof. Dr. Ana Rita Carlos of Development and Evolutionary Morphogenesis of CE3C.

Mafalda's MSc project aim is to dissect the key mechanisms linked to the onset of the defect in LAMA2-congenital muscular dystrophy pathogenesis by identifying molecular signs of impaired differentiation in both muscle stem cells and muscle fibers.
