Elizandra de Matos Cardoso is conducting a Ph.D. in Biology and Ecology of Global Changes by the University of Lisbon starting in 2018 within the Faculty of Sciences. She is conducting the project Contamination in the City: Synanthropic Species as Bioindicators of Urban Environmental Exposure, under the supervision of Maria da Luz Mathias, Sofia Gabriel and Rita Monarca. Project aims are: to contribute to the evaluation of exposure to heavy metals in two cities with distinct levels of urbanization, Lisbon and Ponta Delgada, using synanthropic rats as bioindicators, evaluating different levels of biological response to contamination.
