I received a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Lisbon in 2012 and I am currently working in the Ecophysiology of Small Mammals Group. My research focuses on the suty of rodent pests and their impacts using a One Health approach, focusing on their deleterious impacts on the environment, animal and human health. For many years I have been involved in using small mamall species as model systems for the sudy of phylogeographic patterns of colonisation and speciation, mostly on islands.
My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: 1) assess the impacts of using anticoagulant rodenticides for both rodents and non-target wildlife; 2) address mechanisms of rodenticide resistance, 3) use molecular and physiological markers to infer adaptation to anthropic environments.
